Ludwig Joachim von Arnim was on 26 January 1781 born son of a nobleman in the Prussian civil service in Berlin.

Ludwig Joachim von Arnim was raised as an orphan by his grandmother in Berlin. Before and during the trip activities, he collected folk songs handed down orally. Then, in 1804, he started with Clemens Brentano in Heidelberg, the three-volume pool of songs “Des Knaben Wunderhorn” (1806 – 1808) place together. 1805 the first volume was published.
